How safe is CBD oil?

If you want to know if CBD oil is safe, it’s important to understand the effects of CBD on the body. This helps you to know if CBD is right for you, and which CBD oil is the best to buy.

The Endocannabinoid System

So, here’s the science bit. Hemp is part of the cannabis sativa family, which means hemp plants contain substances called phytocannabinoids. Keep that in mind for a moment, as we’re now going to talk about something that all of us have - an endocannabinoid system.

This vital system of internal receptors helps to support a body state called homeostasis, the biological term for stable, balanced overall health and wellness. The natural phytocannabinoids in hemp ('phyto' means plant) work alongside the endocannabinoid system inside our body ('endo' means within) like a perfect fit to help support our wellbeing.

CBD is just one of the phytocannabinoids found naturally within hemp. It can be carefully extracted from CBD-rich hemp strains like our plants which are high in CBD but not THC, the psychoactive element in street cannabis.

Some brands mix CBD with other types of carrier oil, but we always insist on our own natural hempseed oil in our CBD oils so that we can treat this important product with the respect and care it deserves.

To be absolutely sure that you’re choosing a CBD oil that will work effectively with your own endocannabinoid system, it’s vital to look for a hemp product that contains the right amount of CBD, and CBD that has been extracted with care from quality hemp plants.

How to find the best CBD oil?

While a quick Google search will reveal a dizzying amount of options from a range of retailers, it’s smarter to only buy from an online destination that you trust. If you try a product that doesn’t live up to the promise on the label, and see no difference to your general wellbeing, then you’re less likely to try again.

A study, carried out by the Centre for Medicinal Cannabis (CMC), of 30 brands of CBD oils available in the UK revealed that 38% of the products actually contained less than 50% of the advertised CBD content, with one product containing no CBD at all.

At Jersey Hemp our dedication to producing the best of the best starts from day one of the life of our hemp plants. They’re grown using organic and sustainable farming methods on carefully chosen farms across the island of Jersey. And if you want to learn more about how we produce our hemp CBD products, from hemp cultivation, harvesting and extracting, to the third party lab tests we publish for every batch of CBD oil we produce, you can find it all here.
