Cannabinoid Questions

Cannabinoids are the active chemical compounds found naturally in the seeds, stalk and flowers of cannabis plants. At Jersey Hemp, we are committed to harnessing the multiple benefits of one of the most well-known cannabinoids; CBD. In order to derive the maximum advantages from this particular cannabinoid, we use the latest processes and most natural methods.

Cannabinoid Questions

Are Jersey Hemp products third party tested?

All Jersey Hemp CBD products are tested by third party laboratories for cannabinoid concentrations, pesticide and heavy metal contamination as well as for microbial contamination.

Test results are available on our analytics page.

What are the side effects of CBD?

CBD is recognised as having a sedative effect. It is possible CBD use, particularly at higher concentrations, may cause drowsiness. CBD has also been known to increase dryness of the mouth. Changes in appetite may also occur.

How do I ingest a tincture?

The CBD tincture can be ingested in many ways, the simplest being sublingually (under the tongue) allowing the CBD to absorb through the skin of the mouth for 1-2 minutes before swallowing. Alternatively, CBD oil can be added to foods including porridge, smoothies, or baked goods, or applied topically (direct to the skin).

What is the recommended daily allowance of CBD?

Every individual is different, and the exact amount of CBD required will vary according to height, weight and preference.

We recommend starting with a low amount and increasing as required. For further information on calculating daily amounts please use our CBD calculator.

What is the difference between CBD isolate and full spectrum CBD?

CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD and comes as a crystalline yellow powder usually testing at above 99.8% CBD. CBD readily dissolves in fats and oils making hempseed oil a great carrier, increasing bioavailability.

Full spectrum CBD is a plant extract, usually processed by supercritical CO2 fluid extraction, and contains other cannabinoids, terpenoids, flavonoids and often unwanted chlorophyll, waxes and lipids. Full spectrum extracts come in resinous forms and the CBD content of whole plant extract can range from 10% to over 90% total CBD concentration. The full spectrum extract is mixed with hemp seed oil to produce our full spectrum CBD oils.

With full spectrum oils it is important to look at the total amount of CBD in the extract as well as the percentage of extract in the bottle. For example, a full spectrum CBD oil containing 25% plant extract with a CBD concentration of 50% will have a final CBD concentration of 12.5% equating to 1250mg CBD or 2500mg extract per 10ml bottle.

At Jersey Hemp we mix our full spectrum oils to a desired concentration of CBD relevant to the concentration of CBD in the extract. Therefore, if we require a 25% final CBD concentration and our CBD extract has a 50% total CBD concentration, we mix 1-part CBD extract with 1-part hemp oil which equates to total of 2500mg CBD or 5000mg of extract per 10ml bottle. Therefore, all other cannabinoids, terpenoids and flavonoids are contributing to the entourage effect.

What is the difference between Hemp Seed Oil and CBD Oil?

Hemp seed oil is a culinary oil cold-pressed from the seeds of the hemp plant. CBD oil is a very different product and is used as a nutritional supplement. Jersey Hemp CBD Oil is made from pure CBD isolate or full spectrum CBD extracts and dissolved into hemp seed oil to a desired concentration.

Can I take the CBD abroad?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is legal in Jersey. The legality of CBD in the UK, European Union and the rest of the world varies depending on the state or country. We advise studying the local laws of your destination and any transfer destinations before taking your CBD out of the Island.

Will I pass a drugs test?

All our CBD products contain zero THC. However, we cannot confirm a positive result will not occur. For more information regarding CBD in the UK please visit the MHRA website or the European Industrial Hemp Association website.

How is CBD extracted?

CBD may be extracted from the plant using solvents or hydrocarbons. Recently, methods using supercritical CO2, derived from the coffee industry to extract caffeine for de-caffeinated coffee, are being used to extract and isolate CBD. In the UK and Jersey laws prohibit the presence of THC in any product. Therefore, our CBD is isolated to 99% purity and our whole-plant extract is refined to remove all traces of THC before mixing into end products.

What is Cannabidiol (CBD)?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of 100 known cannabinoids found in all plants of the genus Cannabis and can constitute up to 40% of the plant’s extract. CBD is non-psychotropic, it will not get you high, and has been shown to have great benefits for general well-being.
